I understand how to calculate the calories & ABV in beer with the OG and FG, but what about going backwards, like for a commercial beer? Is it possible to calculate the calories with the FG and ABV alone?

Thanks

if (OG-FG)*131=ABV, then

OG= (1/131)*(ABV + (131*FG))

From there you have your OG, FG and ABV and can do your calcs as usual. It will be close, but remember that the use of 131 is an approximation anyways, so you will likely not be exact on the OG.
