I have received my new heavy 60qt. aluminum pot and the instructions indicate a seasoning procedure for it before initial useage. I don't plan to use it for anything other than brewing beer and was wondering if I still need to season it according to the manufacturers instructions. Yes/No?

Salute! :mug:

No, but what you need to do is passivate the pot. Fill it with water and boil away. This will build a passive oxide layer (looks gray and dull).

Just a follow up on this. Once the gray coating is there, do not scrub it off with any kind of abrasive pad. Only clean with a soft cloth.
