has anyone thought about building a wooden faucet for a corny set up. i was thinking of ways to customize a keg setup with something on of a kind. back in the day all taps for casks were made of wood, why couldn't someone with woodworking skills make a one of a kind faucet to attach to a corny keg. also, if made from oak do you think it would improve the flavor your homebrew?

aside from sanitation issues, wooden taps are typically used in situations where they are holding back little more than the weight of the liquid itself (little to no gas pressure). if you are thinking of making something like a traditional faucet, except out of wood, good luck to you.

it would not be in any way like dry hopping with oak or aging in oak barrels, if thats what your thinking.
