How do you convert the Johnson Controls temp regulator?

I need to keep my freezer (fermentation) warm enough.
I thought I could change my temp regulator over for heat.
I took the top off and found a switch that read "maximum" and "minimum".
I pushed it over to the max thinking that that was all I needed to do... nothing.
I have a heating pad hooked up.
I am I missing something?

your johnson controler has to be a 2 stage controler if it is use the N.C. contact and you should be good

My A419 has jumpers inside it that have to be switched to set it up for heating/cooling. It details it in the directions.

You need to remove the four screws on the front. Open the casing and there are two jumpers right next to the wiring assembly for the display. Place the jumpers so that both contacts are covered. You will now be in "heating" mode. Replace the cover and you should see a little flame where there once was a snowflake. Now set your temp to the cut out (when you want it to stop heating) temp and you should be good to go. If you need more detail, just google the model and you should be able to find an operating manual without much difficulty.
