hey all,
Any input on this matter would help!!! This will be my first all-grain brew and here are the ingredients:
5 lbs of 2-row Canadian malted barley
1 cup of crystal malt
1 tsp of Burton Salts
3/4 oz of Goldings Hop Pellets (bittering)
1/2 oz Goldings Hop cones (flavouring)
1/4 oz Goldings Hop Pellets (finishing)
3/4 lbs of sugar
2 packets of dry ale yeast
5 Gallon Batch (18.9 L )
First question is, Should i switch up the 3/4 lb of sugar (corn) for DME (light)? Second, I would like to have my own distinct flavor, I was thinking about using a resin that come from a tree here in Newfoundland call Balsam Fir (Abies Balsamea) most common for the use of Christmas Trees. This tree has blisters that contain a resin with has a nice aroma. Let's cut to the chase i was planing on collecting this resin a small amount 1 tsp and boiling it in 2 cups of water, Then adding it to the wort mixing it using my Aeration process then pitching my yeast. I'm starting this DEC/10/2012 any input good or bad would help!!!!!!!
