So a freind and i brewed a choc. coffee stout yesterday and our gravity was 1.092. Which was high so we added a half gallon of water to it. We didn't take a gravity after doing so. It was put into a 6.5 carboy and yeast was already in and figured reading wouldn't be complety acurate. And that there is a way to figure out what aprox. it will be. Does anyone know what calculator.

You would need to know the amount of wort you had before adding that half gallon to calculate it, was it exactly or close to 5 gallons?

92 * (whatever the volume was before you added the half gallon)/(that same volume above PLUS half gallon). That is, just multiply the number to the right of the decimal by a ratio of the volumes.

So if you had 5 gal of wort before you added the half gallon of water it would be:
92 * 5/5.5 = 83.6 so the gravity should have been about 1.0836 (or rounding up; 1.084).

yes it was exactly 5 gallons before. The good news is that it has started fermenting already less than 12 hours later.
