I don't think that compression fittings such as the one shown are designed to be used with vinyl tubing. They are intended for soft copper tubing. Most use barb type fittings and a hose clamp for the plastic tubing.
 
I had compression fittings on the end of my IC with vynil tubing in it. I had to crank those suckers down HARD to get the tubing to stay. then, after using it once, the vynil got soft and would slip righ tout.

I evneually got slightly larger tubing (had some left over form something) and hose clamped it straight onto the copper. This worked so much better.
 
You can get away with it if you use a internal support sleeve and a softer ferrule material like nylon, but there's really no benefit to using a compression fitting for soft tubing.
