So after I took my gravity sample, I thought why waste this perfectly good wort and began pouring it back into my bucket with the other 5 gallons of cooled wort. A split second after I started doing this, I realized I never sanitized my sample beaker and stopped. About half of my sample remained. I know and plan on letting the brew take its course and tasting later regardless, but what are my chances of contamination?

The hydro sample is not a waste! It is your beer's gift to you and you should drink it! If you don't, the beer may be offended and stop fermenting.

Seriously, drinking the sample is a great way to keep track of how your beer is doing along the way.
