Ok, so the dog lovers in here may really hate me for this but rest assured it was completely unintentional.

Saturday was bottling day. I had taken several hours to clean, sanitize and sterilize everything. The bottling process went beautifully and quickly. Then came the clean up. SWMBO does not let me do that in the house since it's a fairly nasty/dirty event and we have a very small kitchen. Sooo...I'm outside cleaning the trub and debris from both the primary and bottling containers and my dog wonders over to where I am. I don't think much of it since he's a fairly inquisitive pup but obeys very well. As I'm cleaning the containers with OxyClean, I hear my dog lapping furiously. I look over and he has eaten/drank every bit of drub and yeast that I had carefully put aside. I knew he was going to get a stomach ache, but chalked it up to my carelessness and figured he would OK. 2 hours later I walk out for a smoke and there he is...ears low and wobbling in the middle of the yard. He yaks and then stumbles over to me with a sheepish look. That dog was TANKED (and he's a good 70lbs). He woke up yesterday with an apparent hangover. I think we both learned a valuable lesson. I shoulda taken some pics. It was pathetically hilarious. I know I know, alcohol is extremely dangerous to dogs. Like I said, it was completely unintentional.

Ok, had to get that one out.

LOL, I'm a dog lover and thing it's a good story. Now is your dog smart enough to not try that again? I think my dog would be, but my parent's dog....heck no. My dog doesn't seem to be that inquisative about beer, but my parents dog has developed a taste for it (my dad sometimes lets him lick a glass). Overall, I would think that trub would be even more alluring to dogs since it would be sweeter. Yes, it's too bad that your dog drank so much of it....but at least it seems like he didn't get a bad case of poisoning, and maybe he's learned his lesson!

Well the problem with him is that this isn't the first time he's tasted beer. He was at college with me, so he's had one or two before and obviously liked them. So, to answer you question: NO. Especially since this was much sweeter than anything he's had to date. I'll just have to be a lot more careful in the future.

Doh!

OMG! You should not be allowed to own dogs! You are a complete Irresponsible Ahole!

but no seriously. mistakes happens, drunk dogs are funny, maybe he'll learn not to eat that crap anymore.

Dogs are allergic to hops!!!! :D

Come on, someone had to bring it up.

What was the ABV of the brew in question, and how much do you think he drank? Doesn't seem like it would take very much. Even at 70lbs.

ABV was right around 5.8. Man he was lapping up that trub like no one's business. I sprayed him with the hose and then diluted the hell out of the trub but the damage was (apparently) already done. He barfed like a freshman at his first keg party. There was very minimal amount of hops involved as this was a honey weizen.

Ok, I demand pictures. Video would be better.

Honestly, I haven't done that since I was in high school. And I couldn't get a hold of the Polaroid when I did it then. Some of you probably don't know what a Polaroid is, but think of how difficult life was without digital cameras and camera phones. The horror... I know, right?!

I'm pretty sure I have a polaroid somewhere in a storage container right next to one of those compact cameras (slide and click jobs). I bet I even have a roll of undeveloped film in it too. It's just as well that you don't have pics, some animal rights activist here would probably report you to the ASPCA or Humane Society. I'm waiting on that call.....

Don't make me look-back your IP.

Looks like in this digital age you've moved on to shaving cats and posing them to look as though they're used to hitting the bottle :p:D

Hey, you know how those cats are. They get a little age on them and they think they know it all. I tried to tell him he would never make it in the porn industry, but he insisted on submitting his stills anyway.
The bastid shacked up with some Siamese tramp the last I heard.
