The reason I ask is because I have a reasonable background in working with the stuff. I went looking at some places and found that I could make a 14.5gal cylindrical fermenter for about $80 in materials. The best part would be that its clear, UV resistant, and not breakable like glass if you drop it.

Anyone have more experience than I in terms of this stuff and if its Food Grade? I am envisioning some 30" tall 12" diameter fermenters in my future. :D

Some acrylic is certainly food-safe. I'm not sure about O2 permeability.

UV resistance is nice but not sufficient on its own to stop skunking (some visible light wavelengths contribute to skunking as well).
