Can I use maltodextrin for carbonating by bottles? How much should I add to have the carb style for an APA?

I've heard anywhere from 0.75 of a cup for that batch to 2 cups -- a friend of mine does not accept that a beer will carbonate and taste better after a few weeks (sigh)

Use search!

5oz is pretty standard, usually just a bit less.

Oh, you said APA so probably more like 4.5 oz.

If you want cups, then regular sugar is about 7oz a cup. If the sugar if finer/more dense, it will be more oz per cup.

I did run a search and could not find a measurement for table sugar. I am assuming 5 oz is 3/4 a cup of table sugar.

If you don't have a scale, that's about 3/4 cup. If you're using table sugar, decrease the amount by 10% or so. It's more accurate to weigh the sugar, because sugar can pack down in a cup, or be more finely granulated.
