Corny kegs have gotten more expensive. I was wondering what the best options were. My LHBS has ball locks for 70 bucks.

I notice pin locks were a bit cheeper. Is it worth buying pin locks and converting them to ball locks?

I've gotten a couple off of eBay for under forty a pop even after shipping. Also got lucky and a brewpub here had been using cornys but switched over to Sankey and were selling their cornys at a good price. Just have to keep scanning things like Craigslist and eBay and hunt for those deals. I got all of these kegs in the last 6 months.

We have a guy in ATL that organizes a group buy at $40 each a few times a year. Grade A kegs. Down side is only one pickup date/location. He orders extras in case people want more at pickup. Other than that, this forum has a classified section and Craigslist.org is all I would consider.

Forty - bucks seems to be about the average price for cornies eveywhere I've looked. LHBS, Craigslist etc..

I check Craigslist every day. I've bought pin locks for $25 each, ball locks for $30, $40 and 2 for $20 (insane deal that time). Other people sell them on there for quite a bit more.

I decided I would look every day and wait it out until I could get some good deals. It didn't take long.

Try calling local bars, pubs, resturants. I just picked up 12 for free last week from a local night club that have been sitting in the basement from the previous owners.
