Got the new Zymurgy today, complete with recipe for Pliny the Elder from the man himself.

What do you think about the "top beers" list?
 
Vinnie put out a recipe for Pliny a while back. It's floating around here somewhere. I think The Dude did a clone of it.

This is my first issue - I just signed up for the AHA when the Brewing Classic Styles offer came up. What a great magazine... looks like one of those cover-to-cover reads.

.4 lb dextrose
3.5 oz columbus 13.9% 90 min
.75 oz columbus 13.9% 45 min
1 oz simcoe 12.3% 30 min
1 oz centennial 8% 0 min
2.5 oz simcoe 12.3% 0 min
1 oz columbus dry hop (12-14 days total)
1 oz centennial 9.1% dry hop (12-14 days total)
1 oz simcoe 12.3% dry hop (12-14 days total)
.25 oz columbus 13.9% (5 days to go in dry hop)
.25 oz centennial 9.1% dry hop (5 days to go in dry hop)
.25 oz simcoe 12.3% dry hop (5 days to go in dry hop)

WLP001 California Ale Yeast or Wyeast 1056
OG: 1.07
FG: 1.011
ABV: 8-8.5
SRM: 7

Mash at 151-152 60 min. Mash out 170. Collect 8 gallons, stir in dextrose and boil. Pitch at 67*.
