Ill be driving from DC to Falmouth tommorow, any suggestions of where i can stock up on beer in the cape area? mostly looking for local stuff.

Most any package store on the Cape will have growlers of Cape Cod Beer (Hyannis) and sixes of Mayflower Beer (Plymouth). They are the 2 larger local breweries. I'm not as familiar with Falmouth as I'd like to be so I don't have any package store recommendations from that area. I live only 20 minutes away and that once every 3 years I go there I have a good time.

If you decide to visit Cape Cod Beer for their daily tour (every day at 11:00am except Sundays) you will drive through Mashpee on the way. There is a Liberty Liquors which has the liquor warehouse feel to it. Good prices for Cape Cod. They will be a good place to check out local brews. (Again I admit I've only been to the one in Wareham...I assume the one in Mashpee is comparable.)

Weather is looking to be decent. Warm and not humid. You should have a good time.

I was just on the cape a couple weeks ago. I LOVED Cape Cod Beer. Their bomber prices are really good too. Even though they only do one tour a day, you can do the tasting at any time.

Cape Cod Beer is good, I was staying ~3 minutes from there last week.

The Cape Code Package Store is a good place with some nice finds from the Bruery, Lost Abbey, etc. and I picked up some DFH120 and World Wide Stout (my 'white whale' for four years now).

I don't have a recommendation on a liquor store, but I will say Mayflower makes some really good beer. The IPA and porter are fantastic. The golden ale is good too.

Buzzards Bay Brewing is another local brewery in the area that has decent beer

Spot on about the IPA, Porter and Golden Ale.

thanks for all the info... the cape cod beer was technically very good, if not exciting styles. Also tries some ipswich and Wachussets IPAs (seriously who makes a light IPA?) only brought a couple cases of stuff back, but i have enough to keep trying!

also, it was 100 here and i was freezing on the beach there...very odd

I'm actually sorry to report that I remain unimpressed by Cape Cod Brewing. I made the mistake of having another of their Summers and it left me so flat it pretty much screwed everything else I tried.

Fortunately there are plenty of alternatives on the Cape Of Cod, and I'm pretty sure I had a few of each this week :drunk:

Fabulous week, btw.
I hear there was a heat wave inland. Missed that ;)

Cheers! :mug:

Sorry, not allowed back to Falmouth. ( the heights ) was escorted to the town line
back in the day ...
