I like the idea of a Black IPA so for my fourth batch I came up with the following recipe. Beer Calculus indicated the hop amount would yield 44IBU, the OG @ 1.058 and the SRM @ 25. How does it look?

3lb Light DME
3lb Light LME late addition
1lb Crystal 60L
.5 lb Carafa II

.75oz @ 15AA Warrior 60min
.5oz @ 13AA Chinook 30min
.5oz @ 5.5AA Cascade 15min

Whirlfloc @ 5min

1056 yeast 14 days @ 68 degrees

I like the balance of IBU's to your Original Gravity projection.

I would be concerned that there aren't enough hops in the last 2 minutes of boil...or perhaps a dry hop addition in the fermenter. The Cascade might be tough enough to give it a nose...but I personally make later hop additions.

I LOVE IPA!!

Yeah, I thought a dry hop might come up.
Perhaps another .5oz Cascade in the secondary?

I, too worship the IPA.

Brewed this Saturday.
Added .5oz Cascade @ 2min and LHBS did not have Warrior so I used Nugget.
OG registered 1.032 at ~70F. I guess it was mixed poorly... I am sure OG for 3lb DME and 3lb LME has to be higher than that in 5 gals.
Quick start to fermentation. Had to switch to blow off as it filled the headspace of my 6.5.
