I just recently got a kegging system to start kegging my homebrew. I have a freezer in my garage that I plan on using. I bought a temperature control so that I can set the temp at 45F. My question, is will the kegs be ok in the winter? This is Michigan and it is a detached garage so it will get quite cold out there. Any one have any experience with kegs in the winter?

No, they won't be ok in the winter. Best bet is to get a dual controller and have the second control hooked up to a heating pad or some other source of heat. I monitored the temp in my 9 cubic foot chest freezer as it was stored in my detached garage over the winter (not yet in use) with a max/min thermometer. Even here in NJ I had over a week where the temp in the chest freezer was well below freezing.
