I am in complete awe, that is beyond amazing. You dont live to far from me. TOLEDO OHIO BABY!!!!

I actually grew up in Toledo (well Perrysburg) until I was 12, and I went to UT. I have a lot of family up there and go up a couple times a year. Once to take the kids to the zoo and there's always 1 or 2 dinner trips with SWMBO to Mancy's. mmmmmmmmm steak.

Bump... Updates Please...

I'll post you over some Guinness beer-mats if you PM me your address... They are about the only thing light enough to justify postage from Ireland...

Unfortunately there are no updates yet. I have a buddy coming over with a backhoe within the next couple of weeks and he and I are putting in an outside sump pit and completely closing off the inside of the basement from the drain tiles surrounding.

I've had water issues for a while now, so work has come to a complete stop until I get that taken care of. No sense in putting more money into it when there's still a chance of water ruining some of it.

If, after the pit is done, and I make it to next spring with no water then I'll start working on it again. Once I start, I estimate that I'll have it done within 6 months or so, provided that I don't run out of money (finishing a basement gets expensive!).

Regardless, I'll be sure to post pics of progress when there is some.

I grew up and Marion, I left for college in 97, now my wife and I are up in Avon Lake. My family is still there, I make it back every once in awhile. I bet we know some of the same people. What school did you go to?

Anyways... nice set up.

I'm a bit older than you. :D I graduated from Pleasant in '91. Shoot me a PM next time you're coming back to town and maybe we can meet up for a beer or two.

Looking good, ohiobrewtus.

The booths are an awesome idea. I'm gonna have to do some looking around for some.

How many taps are you going to have? And where's the stripper pole?

There will be at least 4. SWMBO actually does want a stipper pole down there :rockin:

Can I come and live in your basement please? :D

No, but you're close enough to me that you can drive down and drink with me then crash in it if you want. :D

Any updates?
No updates yet, but I hope to get back on this in the spring provided that the water issue is finally taken care of. For now I've moved on to the deck.

Nice start on the man cave.

I am about 3/4 the way through my basement remodel. I kept a 21'x32' room for the man cave. I hear yea about the water issues.

I removed my gutters about 3 years ago due to roof damage, ice damns. When I replaced the roof I never put gutters back on. With the 3' overhangs all the way around hte house the only time my basement shows any water is once or twice a year, couple little puddles. In about 3 weeks I'll be installing a French Drainage system. I'll put it about 2' down right under the overhangs. That should take care of any water problems.

Guess I'll have to start a thread of my own. At least my man cave wont take 2 years. :D

Just kidding man.

Now that you've been published you need to finish the project... There should be a time limit on the work in project threads...

You've got 6 months to finish and throw a hugh party where we come over and drink all your beer or..., or else..., or else we come over and drink all your beer ;)

The next time my new post indicator directs me here, there had bloody well better be an updated bar porn pic for me to get off on. :(

+1 Any updates on this project? It's an awesome cave!

I lived in 'burbs outside Detroit but we use to hit some bar in Perrysburg every couple weekends in the mid-to-late 80's. The "Bubble Room" I think it was called (no people it wasn't a strip club). Had a motel right next door. Convenient to say the least. ;)

wish I had a basement. We just do not have them on the left coast. :(

but I could convert my second living room into one, if my wife ever leaves me. :D
j/k btw.

I am limited on practical space. Maybe when the kids are out of the house. :D

btw, its hard to type the grining smiley while drinking.

Eheh...everybody has to be from somewhere. I also grew up near Toledo, in Monclova actually (Anthony Wayne district). Additionally, I carry the same curse as a Lions fan as well. I always wondered who that other guy was. :p

The Cave, Den, Lair whatever, looks great. Keep us posted.

A tiny part of me will always be a Lions fan because of Tim the Tool Man Taylor! :D (The rest of me is a Packers fan, I think.)

How are things, OB? How's the basement looking?

I thought of this thread the other day, I am working on turning an empty basement room into my Man Cave. My project isn't nearly as epic as yours though - Mine came with walls already constructed, I just have to finish painting, maybe replace the carpet, and then work on hauling the beer fridge down the stairs. (Ugh.)

No progress updates and there won't be until at least may or so. I'm waiting to see if the latest round of drainage improvements have cured my water issues before I invest any additional time and money into this.

Right - forgot about all the drainage crap, seems like that was another year ago. :p

It was. I started this project the winter ('06) that we moved into the house and because of water issues I haven't touched it since. If I can get through to May with no issues then I'll start working on it again.

so when do you open for business? :p

Sweet set-up i really like the booth idea. How grand it would be to have a pub in the basement!!

*sigh*

This thread is sorta like a certain OTHER thread on here...the one about a certain red-head....I et excited (in a different way, mind you) when I see a new post on either of them by the OP...only to be dissapointed when there are no latest picture installments.

Oh well...someday there will be fresh updates on here....

And I will be waiting patiently. (Like I can't have a certain Redhead, I can't have a basement bar in my current setup...so I'm forced to live vicariously...)

:mug:

May? Aww... Having seen your neighbours took on your water issue I hoped you'd return to us here!

No pics yet, but there is a related update. I'm beginning work on this again this evening.

The bar portion of the project may be a ways off yet, but I'm hoping to have the poker and exercise rooms done in a couple of months. It all starts tonight with finishing up some wiring and masking off all of the ductwork in preparation for painting the ceiling.

Mild update w/a couple pics. I'm about 60% or so done spraying the ceiling on the half that we're finishing now. I'll finish up the painting tomorrow (Sunday), then it's on to acid staining the floors. The paper you see is the ductwork that's taped off with newspaper to prevent it from getting sprayed black.

This section all has a second coat, but there are some spots that still need touched up.

From the exercise room to the poker room:

From the homebrewpub looking into the poker room (I double checked after the pic and I didn't miss that spot by the light, the combination of the light and the flash makes a section of the osb look like it hasn't been painted, but it is):
