Is caramel malt the same thing as crystal malt?

Yes.
Check out the Wiki for information on the various malt varieties.
I tend to use 'Crystal' more frequently than 'Caramel'.

OK, that's what I thought. I have used various crystals.
The vendor I am ordering from now has "caramel".
Just wanted to make sure.
