does anyone have a good method for removing the stick on thermometers from carboys? i am wanting to replace one because it is hard to read. when i peeled it off it left the whole sticky black back on the carboy and nothing seems to work removing it. not even scraping with a knife.

Goof Off! or Zippo lighter fuel. Since it's on the outside of the carboy I wouldn't freak out about using a naptha or petroleum based solvent, just don't get any inside the carboy. Of course this advice is for a glass carboy only, don't use either of the above on any plastic materials!

OH yeah, WD-40 works well too.
