Searched all around on here, can't find a definitive answer. What do you think the smallest CU I can get away with is for 6.5 gallon fermenter? I'm temp controlling ales, any better ways?

you'll probably need something larger than 4 cubic feet, but that measurement alone is not going to be a good enough answer. You will need to get accurate measurements of the inside of the think as well as your fermenter dimensions to be sure it will fit.

Measure the dimensions of the box your carboy came in and make sure the interior dimensions are greater than that. You might have to put in a blowoff because of headspace issues.
