I have 1 pound of Hugh Baird 55 Lovibond Brown Malt and I'm not really sure what to do with it. I bought it along with an assortment of grains for steeping, but realized I have no idea if it's ok to use as a steeping grain.

What flavor will it impart besides "nut like taste" (hehehe)?
How can I use it effectively? Is steeping ok?

Thanks People....

You can steep any malt you want. If it's a base malt you won't get as many sugars out of it as you possibly could by mashing it. Are you brewing all grain or not? Use it in a brown porter. If you use extract then steep it, if not, put it in the mash.

I bought a pound on a lark last weekend. I'm thinking about using it in a porter, which may or may not also include some rauchmalt :D
