need to top off to 5 gallons in my 6 gallon better bottle. Where is the 5 gallon mark?

(forgot to measure - woops)

Can't help with this one but when you bottle this beer you can measure with water and mark the gallons off with a sharpy

alright I'll stop being lazy - I was adding 1/2 gallon growlers to measure off but then i lost count of how many 1/2 gallons i added. So I just added 1/2 gallons to where i thought 6 would be. then took out a gallon of a time and marked what was left. In the end i guessed right.

So FYI - 5 gallons is about 1/3 inch above the bottom of the top ridge.

i hope this post is English....

so you posted this thread instead of emptying out the BB and starting over and paying attention to how many gallons of water you added:confused:

yup i sure did - thought someone might know.

I'd hate to waste all that water! haha

to the OP
I use a bit of masking tape to mark where I need to be on my carboys

this is something you should look in to for future brews

Today is my first 5 gallon batch, graduated from Mr. Beer! I too have a 6 gallon Better Bottle and found this post very useful! I love this forum!
