vinyl shower walls

im looking to remodel my bath and was wondering if they sold the panels separately so i can use one on the ceiling to make a steam shower waterproof

Actually, you have to use a special cement board for bathrooms. regular drywall does NOT cut it.

You do not want to take short cuts in a steamy/damp area.

cost and do it right the first time!!

Then again, you can always tile.

ain't after drywall i know about mold eating that crap. i'm after vinyl panels that normally go into a shower enclosure, but i want to line the ceiling withem to prevent water absorbing into it. trying to diy my own steam shower type thing with an arched ceiling to it.

Gotcha...I don't think the panels come long enough for home usage.

You may have to special order, if that's possible.

Speaking of Vinyl. Anyone use them cloth type shower curtains like they have in hotels? I'd like to pick some of them of for home use.

There are plenty of products out there that will suit your needs. Vinyl wall covering comes in sheets usually 4'x8' and you can cut it down to whatever size you want. I wouldn't worry about it for a shower though. Just use green board and paint it.

I have never seen the panels sold separately. I am not saying they aren't available, I have just never seen them.

If your shower is white, I might suggest FRP (fiberglass reinforced panel). It gets used in a lot of commercial kitchens and should hold up very well for your use.

I don't know if i'd go with the wallpaper. I have a small shower room in my home, and I likes me a hot shower. The paper is the first thing that you notice when you walk in. Edges curl, seams separate, it's ugly.

I used vinyl panels in an odd-sized shower about five houses ago. They were tough to find, but that was pre-Internet. The edge molding gave water-proof seals, but was a real pain to install. Bought the materials at a place that catered to builders. You won't find them at HD or Lowe's.

goto home depot and look at the paneling. and yes you will find the edge molding. you can actually buy a kit that has that. talk to the bath specialist though.

BTW its not really vinyl its press board with a waterproof cover. use liquid nails to put on the walls and use a good sealant for the corners base and top.

and as far as clothe shower curtain.. i use the clothe on the outside but vinyl inside.

get frp (fiberglass reinforced polymer) they sell it at home depot in 4x8 sheets. 100% plastic unlike the paneling. its the same stuff they use in comercial bathrooms
