So for my second brew day i made a pumpkin ale. I took the BYO recipe but changed a few things for my taste.
8 Lbs. 2-row pale malt
1 Lb. Cara-Pils malt
1 Lb. Amber Belgian Candy
0.5 oz Centennial hops (60 Min)
2 28oz cans of pumpkin
I highly rounded the teaspoons so I actually put more than the following:
3/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. clove
1/4 ginger
Next two were fresh ground
1/4 (ish) nutmeg
1/8 (ish) Grains of Paradise
Coopers yeast
I was able to hit 72% efficiency with a OG of 1.53
Lots of spice and I can actually smell the pumpkin like with the Pumkin from Southerntier.
Very nice pumpkin orange/brown color so far.
Let me know what you think.
I also built a wort chiller for this batch, it has changed my brewlife. For ~$30-40 it is worth the time.
