Hey Guys,
I'm new to brewing and starting my second batch tonight - an oatmeal stout extract recipe. My recipe calls for "oat meal flakes". Would this be regular oatmeal from the grocery store? Sorry, if that's a dumb question. I thought it would be better to ask and make sure than mess it up! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It could mean flaked oats from your lhbs, or you could use Instant oats, or regular oats (need to be cooked first). Of course the oats would have to be mashed regardless of the type you choose.

Perhaps Baby food oatmeal. It is very refined fine flakes...turns into what I refer to as wall paper paste with a little warm water.
