I picked up a 96 oz can of Vinters Harvest Apple Wine Base which I want to use to make an apple cider. The directions on the can say to add water and table sugar to the base. I was thinking that substituting apple juice from the grocery store for the water, and adjusting the table sugar to account for the sugar in the apple juice, might give the final product more apple flavor. Have any of you tried this?

Sounds like a good plan to me. Using the juice to boost ABV instead of sugar would be my preferred method also.

I'm midstream right now on an ice cider simulated with about 10 tubes of concentrate topped up to a gallon with juice. It's been percolating madly for about 3 weeks now; I'm thinking it will be wicked dry.
