I'm doing 5 gallon boils in a converted 15 gallon keg. Sometimes I find that as it approaches boiling the steam coming off is so thick I can't see when it is actually boiling. It becomes quite annoying as I can't see anything down in the kettle.

Anyone have this happen? Anything I might be doing wrong?

Thanks.

Five gallons is hard to see in a 15 gallon keg. I use a flashlight if i can't see my boil. If I still can't see it, then i put my hand on the rim of the keg and can feel how hard the boil is. HTH.

I used a flashlight last night and I was able to see the boil. Otherwise all I could see was steam.
