What is the idea behind a false bottom? is it to avoid burning? Is this for your mash tun?

Hopsalot,

You should really do some reading before you want some spoon feeding.
Such basic questions should be in the beginners section.
Have you read any of the FAQs yet?

I will use a mash tun with a false bottom that is a perforated plate or screen set above the bottom of the lauter/mash tun to separate grain from the mash liquor. Aids in filtering back the grain during siphoning and sparging. by the way if you don't want to help someone don't even post.
