Can I go straight from the dishwasher to filling them up, or should i still rinse with star san???
If I sanitize my bottles with the heated dry on my dishwasher...

depends if they end up with any dish washer powder residue on them or not
if they look sparkly clean go ahead and use bottle with them

I think that most people only do a sanitizing rinse with no detergent.

My dishwasher has a heated dry and a sanitize cycle. A normal heated dry might not be hot enough to adequately sanitize them. I sanitize with iodophor, and then let them dry on the dishwasher rack, using the door to catch drips when bottling.

I tried the dishwasher sanitizing the last time I bottled. It works really well. If you just want the outside sanitized than leave the bottles upside down. To get them filled up with water leave them right side up on the bottom row (at least it worked in my dishwasher). You probably wont need star san after that but if you are still worried you can dip them in.
