I would like to do a wheat stout today. For a dry yeast, the recipe called for Muntons Premium Gold Dry Ale Yeast. My lhbs did not have this but sold me safale us-05 instead.

Are these similar enough for it to work without altering taste too much?

They are both clean yeasts. The muntons is classed as a high floc / high attenuation yeast but in a stout you might not notice much difference.

The 05 is medium/low floc yeast so it may take a little longer to clear up.

You will probably get a softer finish with the 05.
