Sanitary Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

I did some checking on the cost of one of these for homebrew use and found out why no one that I know of is using one. I had them work up a quote to cool 10 gallons and be comparable to a shirron or a therminator and the cost almost made me fall out of my chair when I saw it at only a mere $1240...

I believe it. I work in a dairy where we have 4 large plate heat exchangers. On top of the initial cost, the gaskets wear pretty quick and aren't cheap.

I contemplated buying something like that from ebay. One thing that worries me with those is the amount of internal flow channels they have. Most of the auctions don't list it and the ones I've seen that do, say they only have 2 flow channels as compared to a Therminator, which has 18. I would be interested in hearing reports from someone who has used one of these units to find out if they have clogging problems or not.
