I am planning on growing hops this year, and was thinking about creating a trelles around my ac unit to help hide it, but also to keep it cooler. How do ya'll think the air circulation will hurt/help these vines? I am thinking a big box around the unit, with 4ish feet of clearence around it. It is in the full sun all day, so I think that will help alot.

Ya'lls thoughts?

Four feet should be good. I had a Nugget plant that was ~two feet from an outdoor AC unit and it would get buffeted a bit when it cycled on. Still, no ill affects on the plant.

As an HVAC Mechaninc make sure you have at least 2 ft clearance on each side of the unit. Also make sure they the AC condensate drain isnt near the plants. The condensation water is HIGHLY acidic and could possibley hurt them.
