Hey all,

MrMalty says that i need 2 yeast packs for my next brew with my stater. (brewing a high grav Belgian)

My question: Is two yeast packs too much in my 1lt flask? Worried about too much yeast in a smaller flask to reproduce properly.

Should I just put one pack in the stater, and then pitch my starter + a new vial?

Or is two vials ok in a 1lt starter?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!:mug:

I believe mrmalty also suggests volume of starter as well, no? 2 vials in 1 liter sounds like a bit much to me. I'd stick with 1 liter of wort (100 grams DME) and a single vial. Do you use a stir plate? If so, 2 vials is unnecessary. Cheers!

I respectfully disagree. 2 vials in a 1L starter is not too much. That said, I usually move the slider to larger starter as I have both 2L and 5L Erlenmeyer flasks. I'd rather save the extra vial for the next brew!
