man i tried to get a topic that wouldn't immediately be crucified by all you sicko's, but i failed. so now that you're here help me out :drunk:

i have a couple of propane burners i put in a brew stand and i keep reading about drilling orifices for proper burn. how do i know if i need to do this??

It is based on how much the air shutter has to be closed to get yellow flame tips, more than half way and the gas opening needs to be larger, less than 75% and it is just about right. Operating the burners with just a hint of yellow at the flame tips is the most efficient you can get, wide open air and a noisy flame is a fuel waster.

and the orifice is the brass bit that thread's into the burner into the air shutter? or the actual tips of the burners?
