so, i've got my very first batch of mead ever going. JAOM, completely unmodified recipe except that it's 2 gallong instead of one.

i read the JAOM thread, and saw several mentions of carbing it, but nobody said how they had done so. i tried searching, but couldn't come up with any results that way either.

i was hoping to carb a couple bottles, and leave the rest still.
would coopers tabs do the trick?

No.
To carbonate it, you have to force carbonate it. The yeast has reached its alcohol tolerance and there is still sugar left over to ferment, so adding some more sugar will not allow carbonation.

I usually always carb up half of everything I make. I bottle the portion that I want to remain still, then add a bit of honey to the remaining mead and bottle in corks & baskets.

Getting the right type of bottles and corks is the biggest problem for me
