my friend has a mr beer keg with his last batch of red ale its been fermenting for 17 days. It has what looks like krausen but might be something else, we tried it, it didnt taste bad. Can it be bottled ? will the funk settle? does any one have any advice? he's about to start 5 gallon batches>

My Mr. Beer batches didn't really develop a real thick krausen, but often had yeast colonies or clumps of tiny white bubbles congregating on top. Give it a few more days and bottle it up I say. If it doesn't completely settle in the fermenter it will settle in the bottles.
