Passed the time during my two-hour barleywine boil yesterday to update my inventory of ingredients. Heh. I gots lots. :D

120 lb Thomas Fawcett Maris Otter
120 lb CMC Pilsner
20 lb Extra Dark Crystal
10 lb Dark Crystal
10 Rye
10 Wheat Malt
5 lb Rauchmalt
5 lb Aromatic
5 lb Carapils
5 lb Chocolate Wheat
5 lb Caramel Wheat
5 lb Pale Chocolate
5 lb Flaked Barley
5 lb Roast Barley
5 lb Special Roast
5 lb Black Patent
3 lb Caramunich
3 lb Special B
3 lb Caravienne
3 lb Flaked Wheat
2 lb Chocolate

15 lbs of hops, too many varieties to list.
20 different yeast strains on slants in the yeast library.

I'm sure I'm missing some odds and ends.

:ban:

My list has a lot more decimals :D...that and you have more Maris Otter than I have total (and I just bought a sack). Divide everything by 5 and that's about my 'list'.

5 lb Chocolate Wheat
5 lb Pale Chocolate
5 lb Roast Barley
5 lb Special Roast
5 lb Black Patent
3 lb Special B
2 lb Chocolate
It would take me forever and a day to use all those dark malts. I think so far this year I've used less than 4# total...but the season for dark ale brewing is about here.

Only five pounds of rauchmalt!?!

One of these days, I'm buying myself a sack. Maybe two sacks. Then I'm filling the bathtub with it and rolling around naked in it.

TMI?

Wow, I wish I had room for all that stuff. Apartment living sucks.

I'm lucky that I have a basement and an understanding wife. :D

The specialty grains are all stored in 1 gallon Rubbermaid containers with screwtops, cost $5 at Target. Fit nicely on a stainless wire rack.

The base malts get stored in 32 qt bins.

Only five pounds of rauchmalt!?!

Yeah, that'll go fast, as that's the exact amount I use in my smoked porter. Since I only make it once or twice a year, I'd be concerned about too much smoke character fading away with age.

What are you going to do with 5lbs of black patent and 5lbs or roast barley?

surely you can ship me a couple ounces of each :D

Writing this down right now in my brew log ... No smoked beer exchanges with the_bird .. :D
