I just switched out my CO2 tank and started thinking.. Last time I opened the valve all the way but it seems on my LP tank it is suggested to open it 1/4 turn only and I think this is the same for my Acetylene tank also while the O2 tank I have been taught to open all the way as it has a double seal and seals better all the way open.

I"m looking for insight from one of our "gas pros" as to which tank valves should be fully open and which should be 1/4 open?

CO2
LP
Acetylene
O2
Beer Gas

Thanks

Nice Avatar. Best Western Series ever.

I'm no pro, but I can't se a reason not to open the CO2 up all the way. I also know that the LP regulators I have don't work properly unless you open the tank valve up all the way as well.

O2 and CO2 all the way
Beer Gas all the way
LP, Acetylene and all flammable gasses 1/4 open or less

As this is what THEY have always told me as a rule of thumb anyway
