Hi all,

I have a chance to get a Festa Brew - Cream Ale at $25.

New one in local HBS is $50.

The box is still using the white color one, instead the new packaging (i.e. one with brown color).

I asked the seller whether there is information about the expiry sticker or product code on the box, and the seller said no such info available.

I suspect it is already expired, but I don't know how long.

Any suggestion ? Should I give a shot on the suspected kit ? Or it's better to get a fresh one.

Thanks in advance...

I say go for it. There is so little work involved in fermenting one of these and if the wort is "sterile" it should be good for a bit after the expiry date. Those are just guidelines, it's not like it instantly goes bad on the day. LOL

If you have a spare $25 sitting around, why not?

@rshortt: Yes! Good point. Even if the yeast seems fine, if it's the Nottingham that those kits sometimes come with, get US-05 or anything else. The Notty is not worth the effort.

Thanks for the inputs. I decided not to take the kit.

The seller is a bit suspicious and I reluctant to take the risk.

Maybe I'll get the fresh one.
