hey, everyone. just wanted to tell about my great brew day and see if anyone else is into this kind of thing.
i started with the base grains that i had left in bags of marris otter (13#) and domestic 2-row (8#) and added a little munich (2#) and light crystal (1#). the 1st runnings of this mash yielded 4.5 gallons of 1.094 barleywine.
then, i added another pound of 2-row, .5# of med. crystal, and .5# of roasted barley and mashed again. the second runnings yielded 4.5 gallons 1.064 american porter(?).
this was a really quick and easy way to make two fairly different beers back to back. i'd recommend it to anyone who has two kettles.
