In the summer, I normally keep my starters in the basement where it's around 70F. In the winter, I will keep them in the spare bedroom, which is probably around 68F, but we have guests for the holidays and I wanted to brew right after they leave, so I needed to make a starter, but my basement is 60F right now.
So in my basement I set up a water bath using an aquarium heater and I had used my second stir plate to circulate the water around the heater. It worked for 2 days to maintain the temperature to around 70F.
Do you worry about your starter temperatures? If so, how do you maintain it?
Here's the pictures of my setup.
