...after several false starts I am finally RETIRING on 3 June...:ban:

I have put in over 36 years Federal Government service (actual time still being computed).

This time consists of 7 years Active Army (1972-1980) and 29 years in Civil Service (1981 to now)! :rockin:

Let the partying commence...:drunk:

Does this require purchasing a 40 of Olde English and pouring half out?

Congratulations and thanks for your service.

CONGRATULATIONS... well deserved. Thanks for your service. I invite all to hoist a pint (or three) in your honor. Here is to many year of retirement brewing.

Cheers..:mug:

Congrats, that is quite the milestone. What line of work did you do?

I've had a great career...and saw lots of the world doing so.

7 years Field Artillery on M109 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer; M114A1 155mm Towed Howitzer; M110 and A1 8 Inch SPH; M198 155mm Towed...1972-1980...

Civilian Service included: 5 years Small Arms Reparier and Inspector; 7 years as an Integrated Logistics Support Manager managing mostly Non-developmental items (item soldiers can use almost immediately) including the M119A1 105mm Towed Howitzer; Equipment Specialist for the M119, the Mine Clearing Line Charge (MICLIC) which breaches mine fields; the Volcano, a mine dispenser.

Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Logistic Assistance Rep (Field Services) Armament LAR, deployed twice to Kosovo (99 and 2000). Worked on all Army artillery (towed and SP) and small arms, Apache and Kiowa armament, and Chemical Equipment, some M1 Tank and M2 Bradley.

Last 6 years as the ES for the M109A6 Paladin SP Howitzer in all aspects of logistics to include provisioning, technical manuals, modifications training, etc. For the past 2 years I've been training 4 replacements to take over for me. ;)

I have been stationed at Ft Ord, CA; Ft. Sill, OK; 3 tours at Ft Bragg (73-74, 79-80, 97-99), a tour at Ft Dix, NJ, 2 tours in Germany (75-79 and 99-2004, 9 years total), and 2 tours at Rock Island, IL (87-97 and 2004 to present). For the past 6 years I've spent 15-23 weeks a year on the road somewhere...
including Korea for 2 weeks every year for the past 5 years.

Basically, for a quick overview, if it goes bang and blows up crap I usually had a hand in it...(not the crap mind you...) :D

Congrats! What is the first thing you're going to do, once you wake up on Monday and don't have to think about work?

To celebrate my retirement on Sept 1, we're going on a road trip in lower Michigan. We'll be leaving around mid-september and going to the beach and breweries, and a few wineries. That's going to be my "F U" work trip. Oh, it's Tuesday? I'll drink a beer for breakfast. I'm looking forward to it!

Retirement has its pluses. The biggest problem I've had so far: my greys are so used to me being around all the time that they get upset if I go somewhere for a couple hours.

Thanks guys...

Yoop, I don't have to wait for Monday...(with a Homer Simpson accent...WOOHOO, 4 day weekend!!!...;)

I don't know the first thing I'll do tomorrow, but I'm sure it involves weeding the garden...

I do know the first thing I'm NOT going to do and that's not set the alarm...:rockin:

Right Revvy, no more trips up to Warren/Sterling Heights...hey, wait a minute...I thought you invited me and the misses up to your place for some summerfest on the lake???:ban:

Is Yooper going to sponsor a camp out this year...(no sqeeters, please....)

But seriously, I need to tear out and rebuild a new rear deck. Right now it's a second story deck, but I'd like to build one that's about 3 levels. I think our "best man" is supposed to help with the designs and info since he does that for a living. If that happens and I pull a retirement party y'all are welcome.

Beercamp is July 10. You (and the missus Bill) are invited, as always. We'll have some pontoon boating, fishing, kayaking, and simple drinking available as recreation.

I'll have to check the calendar...Judy is not into boating, fishing, kayaking or water in general. I'm up for the drinking part though!! :mug:
The 10th is Saturday. Is this just a 1 nighter?

What time does the band show up?

azscoob: Looks like you drank my share also...thanks.:rockin:
