So... i upgraded to a spike BK a few months back and my old 50'x1/2" ribcage IC wasn't quite as efficient because it was designed for a thinner vessel.

so i decided to build a new one and proceeded to buy what i thought was 50' of 3/8" plain old copper tube from ebay for pretty cheap, BUT it appears to be chrome plated.

common sense tells me STOP NOW BAD IDEA, but my cheap side wants to know exactly why, so i built it anyway and boiled it in tap water for a good 90 minutes last weekend and everything seems fine, but I'm sure that test was little more than an exercise in futility.

does anyone happen to have any advice on exactly why using this might be an awful idea?

i wouldn't. no chemical reason, it's just i'd run from that. i'm sure there are chemical engineers who can tell you why not
