Brewed my first homebrew IPA batch this month. I love IPA's. Used 32 oz bottles. My favorite IPA was Schlafly's Dry Hopped IPA. The kit I used was Brewers Best IPA. Pretty close in taste. However I learned something about myself. I love a few IPA's in any given night but more than 2 12 ouncers of these is too much.

Now a beer I can drink a 6 pack of easily is ShockTop Lemon Shandy. However I'd like the Alcohol content to be a bit higher. If I'm going to bottle to 32 ouncers I think IPA's are a bust. Also I'd like 1 32 ouncer to be enough beer for any given night; however at 5 or 6 percent it's just a few 12 ounces short of enough buzz before nightime. Like to have 7 to 8 percent strength.

Anyone have a good clone on this one?

Got a shiat ton of info on this site from the following:

Being the perfectionist I am, this overload of info has me spinning in circles.

Not sure what route to go. Make plain wheat brew and add juice b4 drinking, buy CO2 and force carb since used cold crash and adding juice so yeast doesn't eat my juice, try a ton of different methods for yeast/fruit shavings/bottling with koolaid or true lemon or real lemons, come up with some new combo of my own. This paragraph written here - lets you know i'm a techy guy but obviously Im talking out of my arse cause i havent' done any of the aforementioned. LOL

Time to revisit some old threads! Btw beeradvocate reviews on the Shocktop Lemon are terrible but I think it's the best beer i've ever had - and I do love lemons. Tried other lemon type beers but not impressed - they usually came with the honey flavor that I don't care much for. I've even added lemon juice, true lemon, and ground up hops to various beers before drinking with varying results so I'm open to experiments.

Help me with my 2nd home brew batch.
Goal: Never buy beer again - just ingredients.

forgot to mention strong lemon flavor not opposed to
i'll drink straight up real lemon juice
in my 20's my favorite drink was non-sweetened instant tea mix mixed with vodka and heavy lemon juice - my friends hated that combo! I called it Viced Tea.

Look at my recipe for Sharie's summer shandy. In my recipes under my avatar. And the "yo" think is grossly outdated...
