I got this recipe from a friend and modified it a bit. His recipe used Golden Promise and was all grain. I couldnt do it all grain as the grain bill was too big for my 5 gal MTL. So I partial'd it. This turned out fantastic and I didnt originally intend to put it in the whiskey barrel, that fell in my lap while it was in secondary. Since the barrel was a freshly used 5 gal barrel I only had it in the barrel for 5 days, tasted every day until I got it to where I wanted it to be taste wise. I bottled it 2 days ago, added a packet of Safale 04 to the bucket to make sure it bottle carbs, insured it was done fermenting before I did that so I dont end up with bottle bombs.
