Hey, I'd really appreciate some advice on how to modify my mash tun.

I'm basically going to recirculate from my brew kettle using a march pump and gravity. I'd like to drill a hole in the lid of my mash tun picnic cooler and put in a quick connect for the recirculation from the pump.

I'm wondering what kind of fittings to use. I've seen some Brutus 10 setups that look like they have a hose pushed through some kind of fitting.

Can anyone explain how this works and how I might do something similar so as to avoid hot side aeration?

Many thanks, guys. Cheers.

Lots of folks (myself in included) think HSA is sort of a boogeyman and nothing to really be worried about.

Recirculated mashes, no matter how you do it, introduce air. At some point, your wort will be hitting some sort of diffusion thing and dripping back into the MLT. Air all over the place.
