During my brew last night I got a little drunk and completely forgot to take a gravity reading after my boil. I did take a preboil gravity reading and was right where i wanted to be. How accuate is the preboil calculator to determine the the OG?

preboil calculator where?

OG = (SG * volume)/(final volume)

example:

SG = 1.059
volume = 3
final volume = 5

(59 * 3)/5 = 1.035

I was using brewpal the iphone app. For my grainbill and efficiency it said i should have a preboil gravity of 1.041 and my final gravity would be 1.050.

right so you did a full boil and boiled down to your target volume. assuming your volumes are accurate and the preboil SG was accurate then the calculated OG should be right.
