I am making a beer with an anticipated OG of roughly 1080. I am looking for help on how to make a starter. I have a SmackPack (Strong Ale) yeast, but I need to make a starter. My basic understanding is 1qtr water with 0.5 cups light DME for wort. Pitch yeast and let take hold for 24 to 48hrs, then add to the starter to the 5-gallons of wort.

Is this right? Are the measurements right?

HELP PLEASE!!!:eek::eek::confused:

Per mrmalty.com If you give the starter a good shake periodically, you would need a 2.4 liter starter: 240 grams of DME and then add enough water to bring the total volume to 2.4 liters.
