I have an assortment of 750ml champagne bottles, including chimays, saison, corsendonk, some goofy looking monk guy, etc. The plastic corks I purchased (the same ones all over the world, I'm sure) are all just slightly too small for the bottle opennings. They is virtually no seal. Is this normall? What's going on?

That's the problem- there's two sizes of champagne bottles, basically 'European' and 'North American'. The European bottles have a slightly larger opening. Your corks are for the N.American bottles.

just a heads up . . . when ya get corks that fit you need a press to get them in.

that or a good rubber mallet

I didnt know that until I found the mallet :D
