I know Arduino has library for PID but was wondering if anyone here has used Arduino for a PID for HERMS or RIMS. I want to build a Hybrid e-HERMS and was thinking of using a spare arduino I have for the Temp control of the HERMS portion (elect. heater element). Or would just using the Arduino as an on off temp controller work just as well?

Thanks in Advance

I haven't yet used the PID library, though I may in the near future. It works great as a thermostat-type controller for my steam boiler. It also does a great job of controlling a solid state relay (SSR) with pulse width modulation (PWM) so that I can reduce the duty cycle of the heating element in my boil kettle once the boil starts.
